There is no cure for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) however, early intervention with specific allied health professionals can effectively improve the symptoms. In B.C., the following amounts are allocated;

• Under Age 6  - $22,000 per year (directed by the family) 

• Ages 6 - 18  -  $6,000 per year (directed by the family) + 16,000 per year (intended for school supports)

 Funds may be used for:

• Behaviour Interventionists, Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists

• Life skills and social skills programs

• Out-of-school learning support/tutoring or Independent school services

• Specialized therapeutic activities and camps designed to address your child’s ASD

• Dietary counselling from a registered dietician

• Family counselling/therapy

• Other interventions as recommended by a professional

• Family’s administrative costs (e.g., bookkeeping services)

 The family of a child diagnosed with ASD will usually qualify for a disability tax credit (DTC).
